Rod Jackson
In 2020, Rod Jackson, a Canberra-based singer/songwriter combined his talents with two other local artists, Bren Ryan, lead guitar, and Leoni Marshall, vocals, and the trio 11:11 was born.
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s Rod’s musical influences are diverse and include the likes of the Eagles, Doobie Brothers, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and David Bowie. These artists can be heard peppered in his songs which, also have flavours of blues, roots and country. Without taking life too seriously, Rod’s writing draws from his life experiences, relationships, disappointments, and achievements.
It was only after some convincing in mid-2018, Rod attended his first open mic night and started performing regularly.
Leoni Marshall
Discovering her vocal talent late in life, Leoni, is new to the music scene and commenced her music career with 11:11. Leoni sings with integrity and her vocals are clear, crisp and powerful. Being equally at home with blues, roots, country, rock or folk, Leoni’s versatility complements Rod’s music, yet her original approach still respects other artists material.
Despite being a relative newcomer, Leoni is a committed, professional performer, with the confidence and stage presence of someone with a lot more performance time under their belt.
John Taylor
Unfortunately, Bren was unable to continue performing locally with 11:11 when he relocated interstate. Fortunately, following 6 years with the Paverty Bush Band, John Taylor, a well-established member of the local acoustic music scene, was available and joined 11:11 in December 2021. John provides a rich timbre to the trio with the double bass as well as backing vocals and lead vocals.
John is at home on banjo, guitar, or double bass, and is well-known in the in folk, bluegrass and old-time scenes. Over the last 25 years, John has performed with several local, interstate and international acts in and around Canberra, NSW and Victoria.
While being well versed in and influenced by the standards across the roots genre, John writes original material. This includes a socially conscious folk ballads, the standard tears in your beer honky tonk heartbreakers and others that lean very much toward parody and satire.
11:11 songs are smile fuel, foot tapping and will have you humming the tune of a chorus long after you have heard them play.
